We are honored to present a grand occasion: members of Dmitri Chernyakov's exclusive opera club extend a cordial invitation to the audience of the TheatreHD Opera Club!
You will be introduced to a gallery of recognizable characters, victims of an all-consuming passion for opera: an aging diva, an amateur singer, a blogger, a jaded critic, a disillusioned admirer of Jonas Kaufmann, and others. A respectful exchange of experiences and a convivial atmosphere are most welcome. T
he meeting will be moderated by musicologist and critic Sergey Bulanov. And, of course, we note: "All names and events are fictional. Any resemblance to real persons or events is purely coincidental."

The next TheatreHD Opera Club screening at the GUM Cinema will be Sergei Prokofiev's "Betrothal in a Monastery." Director Dmitri Chernyakov and Maestro Daniel Barenboim present their interpretation of Prokofiev's light-hearted comic opera, based on the classic English comedy "The Duenna," on the stage of the Berlin State Opera. The production transports us to a meeting of "opera-holics anonymous," where each character hopes to be cured of their rather costly and taxing addiction. But is such a liberation even possible? This dynamic, witty, and delightful plot provides a perfect canvas for the actors' exceptional talents to shine — featuring the magnificent Aida Garifullina, Bogdan Volkov, Violeta Urmana, and Valery Gilmanov.
Our moderator, Sergei Bulanov, will guide the audience through Dmitri Chernyakov's directorial concept (a spoiler: it is a perfectly assembled puzzle!)He will explore the importance of reinterpreting a well-known narrative and elucidate why a flawless creative team is the cornerstone of any successful theatrical production.
